The Support & Enablement Service have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic person to provide ‘’hands on’’ support to our tenants, to teach basic independent living skills through one to one sessions or group activity. As part of the new service provisions for Telford & Wrekin Council's Supporting People contract, you will be required to provide support and to gather information to help tenants gain confidence and continue to live independently within our Retirement Living schemes.
As part of this role, you will assist customers with day to day activities which enable them to live independently including transportation to medical appointments and social activities, collecting prescriptions, collecting shopping and teaching basic life skills such as cooking and cleaning.
This role also requires you to be responsible for providing administrative, clerical/IT support and to deliver excellent customer service to our tenants.
You will be expected to promote a positive, friendly and understanding attitude towards tenants and other colleagues ensuring that effective communication is maintained in order to achieve consistency with the high levels of performance, efficiency and quality to ensure we meet our company vision and values.

What you will need:-
The successful candidate will hold a Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths and a recognised first aid and basic food hygiene certificate. A manual handling certificate is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in a busy team, providing excellent customer service and the ability to prioritise work.
You will play a leading role in supporting your Team, Managers and Colleagues therefore you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to demonstrate effective team working skills together with a flexible approach to work, with a can do attitude. You will need experience of working with older people over the age of 55 and have a good understanding of all problems faced by people in Supported or Retirement Living, including care and adaptations needed to live independently.
You are required to have a full driving license and use of a vehicle for business use for this role.
